MCHS freshman and Fine Arts Academy student, Britta Hess has been recognized as a Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Award Honorable Mention Winner for Central and Southern Indiana.
The piece, "He Sees Me", (pictured with Britta) was created using a technique called Stippling. As defined in the Art History Glossary, the act of stippling involves covering an area with dots. What comes right to mind is a wildly time-consuming technique, done with a technical pen and ink (usually black), in which an image is drawn dot...by dot...by dot. The resulting image contains no lines. It is a collection of dots, strategically placed to suggest forms, shapes, contrast and depth. It is left to the viewer's eye to complete the picture, a proposition which seldom fails.
Entered in the work category of Drawing and Illustration, Britta's piece was selected by a panel of regional artists and art professionals as having potential from the 61 county region. Her work was part of a class assignment from her Advanced Art Class.
Britta has been invited to the Awards Ceremony at Clowes Memorial Hall on Sunday, February 26, 2017. Congratulations on your achievement and thank you for sharing your talent with us!
